The “Early Childhood Education, Social Policy and Sports Agency of Serres Municipality – O.P.A.K.P.A” concluded on Monday 12 July, 2021 the 1st Local Thematic Tourism Workshop in Serres, at the Elpida Resort & Spa Hotel.

The workshop was held in the framework of the project, entitled “ADRI-LINK – Adriatic landscape interpretation network”, of the Interreg V-B Program Adriatic – Ionian Program – ADRION 2014 -2020 ”, in which, O.P.A. K.P.A participates as a partner. The workshop was attended by representatives of the Local authorities, Professors of the International University of Greece and the Department of Physical Education of Serres, Presidents of Associations and representatives of organizations related to the development of Tourism in the Prefecture of Serres. The coordinator of the event was Mr. Arapakis George, head of the Tourism Department of the Municipality of Serres. The work of the 1st Laboratory was opened by the President of the Administrative Board of O.P.A.K.P.A., Mr. Despotidis Ioannis, who addressed a greeting on behalf of the Mayor of Serres, Mr. Chrysafis Alexandros, emphasizing that in the matter of tourism the city of Serres and more broadly the Prefecture of Serres “turns page”.

After welcoming the honored attendees, he mentioned the importance of their cooperation and active participation, as they will play a key role in achieving the goals of the project, providing data and knowledge about the tourist landscape, in order to create a new development strategy and thematic destinations of sustainability, within the network landscape of the Adriatic countries. In the first part of the workshop, Mrs. Christoforidou Anna – Economist, partner of the Financial Advisors company Verros Konstantinos, presented the Adrilink project, its basic concepts and Work Packages, as well as the Best Landscape Practices. Then, Mr. Arapakis George, invited all stakeholders to present good practices, innovations and their own plans and priorities regarding initiatives related to the tourist landscape. Finally, Mr. Arapakis presented the third part of the workshop, on the exchange of ideas that aimed to encourage stakeholders to focus on local and regional specifics, attractions and opportunities to highlight the area of the Prefecture of Serres.
